How Our Paving Work Is Done
Asphalt Paving Allentown builds, resurfaces and maintains asphalt driveways, alley parking pads and commercial lots in Allentown and the surrounding Lehigh County and Northampton County communities. The work runs from new driveways and overlays to parking lot paving and striping, sealcoating, patching and crack filling.
Pavement in the Lehigh Valley takes a beating from two directions. Winters bring an average of about 33 inches of snow at the airport, with long stretches below freezing, plowing and road salt. Underneath, much of the valley sits on limestone, a rock that water slowly dissolves, so drainage matters more here than in many places. When we look at a driveway or lot, we spend as much time on where the water goes as on the asphalt itself.
What happens at the estimate
We walk the area with you, measure it, and look for the cause of whatever is failing: soft spots, a broken edge, a low area that holds water, a downspout emptying onto the pavement, or tree roots lifting the surface. If the job reaches the street, the sidewalk or a city alley, we tell you whether a permit is likely and what the municipality asks for. Inside city limits, any cut into a street or alley surface needs a Public Works permit before it starts.
What the written quote shows
- Removal and disposal of the old surface, if any
- Base repair and the depth of compacted stone
- Compacted asphalt thickness for each area
- Edge, apron and transition details
- Sealcoating, crack filling or striping as separate lines
Nothing starts until you approve the quote. If we find something during the work that changes the scope, such as a buried concrete slab or a soft pocket under the old driveway, we stop, show you, and put the change in writing before going further.
