Small Borough, Growing Steadily
Asphalt paving in Alburtis serves a small but growing borough. Alburtis had 2,596 residents at the 2020 census, up 10.0 percent from 2010, on just 0.71 square miles. The town took its name from Edward K. Alburtis, a civil engineer on the East Pennsylvania Branch of the Philadelphia and Reading Railway, when the railroad station opened in 1859. Alburtis and Lock Ridge combined into one borough on May 9, 1913.
Iron furnaces and Lock Ridge Park
In the late 1860s the Lockridge Iron Company bought land next to Alburtis to build blast furnaces, and that area grew into the village now known as Lock Ridge Park. Swabia Creek flows through the park and the borough. Lots near the creek sit lower and can stay damp; those driveways benefit from a deeper stone base and careful grading so water drains off rather than soaking in.
Borough streets
Alburtis had 8.49 miles of public roads as of 2011: 6.22 maintained by the borough and 2.27 by PennDOT. For most homes, the borough sets the rules at the curb and sidewalk. Where a driveway connects to a state road, a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit applies to new or changed connections.
Old and new
With a 10 percent population gain in a decade, Alburtis has newer homes alongside older ones near the railroad. Older driveways tend to be narrow and patched; newer ones need sealing and crack filling to keep them from aging early. We handle both.
Climate
January here averages about 29.1 degrees over the month and July about 73.6. The paving season runs from late spring into fall, and cracks should be filled before the first hard freeze.
Before we start
We measure, check the slope to the street and the house, look for soft spots, and note any creek-side drainage concerns. The written estimate lists removal, base depth, asphalt thickness and edges. If anything changes once the old surface is up, we show you and put it in writing before continuing. Driveway work is scheduled from late spring through fall; sealing and crack filling fit best in late summer, when the asphalt is warm and dry and there is still time before the first freeze.

Most take one to three days, depending on size and how much base work is needed.
